At a glance

Fibres, vacuuming, stain removal: practical steps to keep a rug pleasant for longer.

A rug traps a lot of dust in its fibres. Its material determines the method: wool, cotton, viscose and synthetic fibres do not react to water in the same way.

The right care steps

  • Vacuum in both directions to lift the fibres.
  • Rotate the rug regularly to distribute wear evenly.
  • Treat a stain promptly by dabbing, without rubbing.

Delicate materials

Viscose and silk are sensitive to water and can lose their shape or bleed colour. Specify the material when booking: we check on site whether wet cleaning is suitable.

💡 Our rug/carpet rate decreases with area: 50 CHF for the 1st m², 35 CHF for the 2nd, then −5 % per additional m² (minimum 15 CHF/m²).

Identify the material

Check the label on the back of the rug. If there is no label, let us know: we inspect and test it on site. An antique, handwoven or silk rug may require a specialist workshop; if so, we will tell you rather than take a risk.

Prepare the room

  • Remove small pieces of furniture from the rug or fitted carpet.
  • Plan not to walk on it while it dries, or only with clean slippers.
  • Ventilate the room after the cleaning.

Frequently asked questions

Can a viscose rug be cleaned?

Only with great care. A test in an inconspicuous area is essential; some rugs must be entrusted to a specialist.

Do you clean rugs at home or in a workshop?

At home only. For a rug that cannot tolerate water, we refer you to a specialist.
